The Chicago Cubs are getting down to the final stretch of games in the regular season as the team is playing solid ball with a current six-game winning streak.
However, not all is peachy in Cubs land according to the following report. USA TODAY senior writer Bob Nightengale said that Maddon might be on the hot seat if the Cubs don't make it far this postseason. Maddon heard about the article referring to his possible future and completely dismissed the report to reporters before Tuesday night's game. "I don't get it, I don't understand it," he said about the hot seat rumor. "It's very uninteresting to me. I'm under contract, I'm very happy with what I'm doing. When the time is appropriate I'm sure we'll discuss it further." Maddon was asked by a reporter if he wanted to come back to the Cubs past 2019. "Of course, I want to come back but it doesn't matter to me when it's resolved. I mean that sincerely. I'm not concerned about that stuff. "
