Maddon on playing Dodgers in postseason: "Absolutely want it"

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs just finished up the series on Sunday losing two out of three games to the last-place Philadelphia Phillies but are still up two games in the pedestrian National League Central.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon said recently that he would love a postseason rematch with the Los Angeles Dodgers that have an incredible 91-38 record this season.

“Absolutely want it, totally want it, nothing would make me happier than that," Maddon said about potentially facing the Dodgers.

Maddon peeked past the team that the Cubs might face in the first round in the Washington Nationals (78-51).

“That’s not to denigrate other teams that potentially could get in here. But for us, I’ve always been about ‘you want to beat the best to be the best.’ They’re the best right now, and you’ve got to go through that group. I’m looking forward to that moment where I feel like we’re clicking on all cylinders again. We’re getting closer to it — and when you get to that point, bring on all comers.”

Maddon gets credit for being positive for his ballclub but his team just finished up a 3-3 road trip against the lowly Reds and Phillies.
