Tom Ricketts hopes to reach out to Bartman

Cubs owner Tom Ricketts spoke to USA Today Sports in his first interview since the Cubs accomplished their first World Series win since 1908 and shared that he has thought about having infamous fan Steve Bartman back to celebrate at Wrigley Field.

"I’m sure we’ll reach out to him at the right time,’’ Ricketts said, "and I’m sure we’ll figure something out that provides closure for everybody. Hopefully, we can make it work."

Rickets is not someone that lives in the past but rather just moves forward with positive energy.

"But you know, I never focused on ghosts or curses or Bartmans or any of that stuff," Ricketts said. "It’s always been about needing a better team on the field. We wanted to eventually get to that point where we can pick out rings like we did (Tuesday), and here we are."

Bartman was part of a foul ball interference in seat #113 at Wrigley Field with outfielder Moises Alou during the 2003 Cubs postseason. Hopefully, the misguided blame that he has had to endure for 13 years will go away by the fanbase as has the Curse of the Billy Goat.

He still lives in the Chicago area but has not granted any interview in 13 years.

Former Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood told the Dan Patrick Show recently that he thought it would be a good idea of Bartman would be invited to throw the first pitch out at Wrigley Field next season.
