WATCH: Anthony Rizzo powers out go-ahead home run |
PHILADELPHIA — Chicago Cubs first baseman
Anthony Rizzo has been in a hitting slump lately, but he was able to power out a solo home run that put the Cubs on the board on Thursday. The third-inning dinger put the Cubs up 1-0 over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Hitting a moonshot that boasted a 37-degree launch angle, Rizzo, who batted leadoff on the night, tagged Phillies starter Drew Smyly for his 22nd long ball of the season. The 374-footer, which served as Rizzo's first round-tripper since July 27, carried out to right-center at Citizens Bank Park and marked Rizzo's 12th career homer from the leadoff spot.
