Chicago Cubs infielder David Bote is renowned for his clutch hitting, and he lived up to the billing in Saturday's 8-6 Cubs win over the Cincinnati Reds. Stepping up to the plate as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the eighth, Bote swung at the first pitch thrown to him by Reds reliever Jared Hughes and drove it into the gap between left and center for an RBI double.

Bote's pinch-hit appearance came with one out, runners on first and second and the game tied at 6-6. Therefore, the 2-bagger served as the winning hit, as it drove home center fielder Albert Almora Jr. to give the Cubs a lead that they did not relinquish. The pivotal line drive provided Bote with his 18th RBI of the season and bolstered his reputation as a hitter who shines under pressure.
