SAN FRANCISCO — Making a grand return to the Chicago Cubs, star third baseman Kris Bryant ripped a 409-foot blast to straightaway center field in the top of the fifth inning against the San Francisco Giants.

Only a day removed from suiting up in Double-A ball, Bryant came back to the big leagues with a bang. Fresh off a frustrating injury layoff that featured stints on the disabled list and in the minor leagues, Bryant likely felt a sense of catharsis after clubbing the two-run bomb that pulled the Cubs to within a run.

Marking the 10th home run of the year for Bryant, the two-run blast left the bat at 103 miles per hour and scored Cubs center fielder Jason Heyward, who singled in the previous at-bat. It served as Bryant's first long ball since June 15.
