WATCH: Children's hospital celebrates Anthony Rizzo's birthday |
CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs first baseman
Anthony Rizzo is going to celebrate his 30th birthday on Thursday, and he was surprised with an early birthday celebration at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago on Tuesday. Rizzo and his wife, Emily, regularly conduct charity work at the hospital through the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, which raises money for cancer research and to help support families battling cancer.
When Anthony and Emily visited the hospital on Tuesday, the caregivers and families there celebrated Rizzo's upcoming birthday by singing "Happy Birthday to You" while presenting Rizzo with a birthday cake. In addition to the birthday festivities, Anthony and Emily met and ate a catered lunch with over 125 patients and their families and presented the kids with gift bags and gift cards. Today @ARizzo44 and Emily got a chance to visit @LurieChildrens. They distributed our Rizz44 bags, every child (and siblings) got to pick a $25 gift card and we served lunch with @tao_chicago to more than 125 patients and their families.
