WATCH: Contreras finishes off hard-fought at-bat with solo home run

After falling behind 0-2 against Arizona Diamondbacks starter Luke Weaver in the top of the fourth, Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras was able to work a full count before making Weaver pay on the eighth pitch of the at-bat. Smacking an 86-mile-per-hour changeup just over the wall in left field, Contreras put the Cubs up 3-0 over the D-backs on Sunday.

Prior to hitting the 366-foot solo shot, Contreras took hefty hacks on a couple of foul balls, preparing himself for his home-run swing, and also showed patience in taking three balls. The dinger marked the second home run of the afternoon for the Cubbies, as Kris Bryant jacked a 2-run blast in the third frame, and served as Contreras' seventh round-tripper of the season. The backstop hit only 10 home runs all of last season.
