WATCH: Descalso gives Cubs late lead with wacky Little League home run

Although Chicago Cubs utility man Daniel Descalso was credited with a triple for his clutch hit against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday, it was essentially a home run of the Little League variety, as it featured a couple of defensive blunders. Descalso pushed two runs across with a triple that fell in between a pair of Phillies outfielders and then scored himself as a result of a throwing error.

Descalso's first triple of the year came in the bottom of the eighth off Phillies reliever Seranthony Dominguez, and it was batted just perfectly to skirt past the outreached gloves of two Phillies who seemingly misjudged the hit in the outfield. The 3-bagger rolled to the wall, allowing Descalso to reach third base, and a throwing error suffered by Phillies shortstop Jean Segura on a throw that hit off Descalso's cleat while he was sliding into third enabled the utility player to come home and put the Cubs ahead 4-3. Victor Caratini and Jason Heyward were plated on the triple before the error was committed.
