Batting leadoff on Tuesday, Chicago Cubs second baseman Daniel Descalso plated third baseman David Bote in the third inning against the Miami Marlins to break a scoreless tie and put the Cubs ahead 1-0. Coming with two outs, Descalso drove a breaking ball thrown by Marlins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez on a 1-2 count out to right field for base knock.

Bote, who led off the inning with a double that bounced off the wall in right-center, was brought home on the hit, providing Descalso with his sixth RBI of his debut season with the Cubs. The newcomer has proven to be a valuable addition both at the plate and in the field.
