With powerful winds of nearly 20 miles per hour blowing directly into Wrigley Field on Friday, the Chicago Cubs benefited from the gale on their first scoring play of the afternoon against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Cubs slugger
Kris Bryant put the Cubs up 2-0 on a 2-run double that was made possible by the breeze.
In the bottom of the second, Bryant stepped up to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded. He proceeded to sky a routine pop fly to shallow right-center that four Diamondbacks closed in on in an effort to catch it. However, none of them were able to do so, as the squirrely wind had its way with the baseball and changed its trajectory too many times for the Diamondback defenders to keep track.
