WATCH: Highlights from Cubs' shutout win over Reds

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — Thanks to two two-out triples, the Chicago Cubs (25-18) scored three runs and shut out the Cincinnati Reds (18-24) on Tuesday. On a drizzly, windy night at Wrigley Field, Javy Baez and David Bote each tabbed their first three-baggers of the season, resulting in the Cubs winning 3-0.

Both of the aforementioned triples were hit to deep right field, with former Cub Nicholas Castellanos, who started in right for the Reds, misplaying the three-base hits. Bote's second-inning triple plated two runs, and Baez's third-inning triple plated the Cubs' other run. Alec Mills pitched six scoreless innings for the Cubs in the opener of the three-game set, earning him the winning decision.
