WATCH: Highlights from Cubs' win in rubber match with Reds

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO — For the first time not only in his Chicago Cubs (52-44) career but in his MLB career, too, Cubs starting pitcher Yu Darvish tallied a winning decision at Wrigley Field on Wednesday. Pitching six shutout innings and striking out seven opposing batters, Darvish dominated against the Cincinnati Reds (43-50) and, in the end, was rewarded with the win.

The Cubs topped the Reds by a final score of 5-2 in the rubber match at the Friendly Confines, thereby providing the Cubs with their first series victory versus the Reds this season. Kris Bryant and Addison Russell hit a solo home run apiece for the Cubs, and Jason Heyward drove in two Chicago runs with a double. Anthony Rizzo plated the fifth and final run for the Cubs with an infield single late in the contest, and Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel then accrued his fourth save as a member of the North Siders.
