CINCINNATI, Ohio — Tuesday's series opener between the Chicago Cubs (25-14) and the Cincinnati Reds (18-24) at the Great American Ball Park was all about Kyle Hendricks, as the Cubs right-hander showed out both on the bump and at the dish during his 8-inning start. On top of producing a commanding 1-run outing, Hendricks tallied the winning hit in the 3-1 Chicago victory.

Hendricks provided the Cubs with a lead that they did not relinquish when he smacked a 2-run double in the top of the second. "The Professor" went on to notch two additional hits as part of a 3-for-4 plate performance. Also of note, Cubs slugger Kris Bryant went 3-for-5 to extend his MLB-leading on-base streak to 23 games.
