Adbert Alzolay, who made his Cubs debut after getting promoted from Triple-A earlier in the day, stole the show and earned the winning decision.
Pitching four innings out of the bullpen. Alzolay allowed just one hit, which was a solo home run, and two walks and struck out five in a stellar outing that served as his introduction to the big leagues. The right-hander received a standing ovation from the fans as he exited the field in the top of the ninth. At the dish for the Cubs, shortstop Javier Baez recorded an RBI triple and a solo jack in his 2-for-4 plate performance. The triple came in the aforementioned 6-run third inning, and the seventh-inning solo dinger marked Baez's 99th career homer.
