WATCH: Highlights of Cubs' riveting victory over Rockies, including Bote's big night

by - Senior Writer -

CHICAGO, Ill. — Sparked by a career night experienced at the plate by infielder David Bote, the Chicago Cubs (34-26) were able to hold off the resilient Colorado Rockies (31-29) at Wrigley Field on Wednesday. Bote went 4-for-4 at the dish for the first time in his career and established a new single-game career high for RBI by driving in seven runs.

Winning 9-8, the Cubs saw the majority of their runs pushed across via Bote's bat. En route to tabbing seven RBI, Bote hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, a 3-run double in the bottom of the sixth and a 1-run single in the bottom of the eighth. The Cubs led by five runs at the conclusion of the sixth inning, but the Rockies were able to claw back. However, Cubs reliever Steve Cishek picked up a clutch save in the top of the ninth to finish the Rockies off.
