CHICAGO — Applying a no-look tag to out an attempted base stealer, Javier Baez flashed his "El Mago" alter-ego on Monday night. Baez caught a throw made by catcher Willson Contreras and swiped a baserunner without even looking at him.

The Kansas City Royals' Adalberto Mondesi, who is one MLB's best base stealers, attempted to steal second base with two outs in the top of the fourth at Wrigley Field. In order to tag Mondesi out, Baez was forced to let Mondesi slide into his glove, so the wily shortstop positioned himself where Contreras' throw landed in the back of his glove just as Mondesi slid into it.
