CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant helped maintain the Cubs' 1-0 lead over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Making a diving stop in the bottom of the eighth, Bryant robbed Giants center fielder Kevin Pillar of a leadoff hit.

Bryant incited a raucous reaction from the fans at Wrigley Field by laying out to snag a screamer hit down the third baseline. Then, Bryant hopped up onto his feet and fired a dart across the diamond to Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo for the first out.
