WATCH: Lester picks off baserunner, glares at Cardinals bench

Chicago Cubs veteran pitcher Jon Lester picked off Cardinals' Tommy Pham in the fifth inning on Saturday afternoon. It was a historic pickoff because of Lester's propensity not to ever throw to first base because of his erratic throws there.

However, Pham was 19 feet away from the first base bag and was daring Lester to pick him off. Lester did just that with a soft lob toss and then glared at the Cardinals bench in pure joy. If Lester can continue to work on his throws to first base, it could help him in tight games and increase his chances for a few more wins this season.
