WATCH: 'The Professor' collects his fourth career double to give Cubs early lead |
Providing himself with some breathing room, Chicago Cubs starting pitcher
Kyle Hendricks smacked a 2-run double to put the Cubs on top of the Cincinnati Reds in the second inning on Tuesday. Hendricks connected on a slider and drove it to the wall in center field to drive home
Daniel Descalso and
Albert Almora Jr. and give the Cubs a 2-0 lead.
The 2-bagger served as the first double hit by "The Professor" since May 19, 2018, and it capped off a 2-out rally for the Cubs, in which Descalso tallied a bunt single that was followed by a routine single off the bat of Almora. The two RBI marked the first RBI obtained by Hendricks this season, with the fourth double of Hendricks' career giving the right-hander an early 2-run lead to work with.
