CHICAGO — In the Crosstown Classic duel on Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox went up 1-0 when leadoff man Leury Garcia swatted a home run of the first pitch of the game. Responding quite emphatically, Cubs catcher Willson Contreras tabbed his third career grand slam in the bottom of the first to give the North Siders a 4-1 lead over the South Siders.

Taking White Sox starter Lucas Giolito deep on a changeup, Contreras hammered a 374-footer out to left at Wrigley Field and was fired up as he rounded the bases. Making perfect contact, Contreras drilled the bases-clearing bomb off the bat at 105 miles per hour for his 14th homer of the season. Kyle Schwarber started the bottom half of the first with a double, and Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez drew walks soon afterward to set up Contreras' go-ahead grand slam.
