Cubs News: Joe Maddon on his players charging the mound

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton  ·  Senior Editor ·

Cubs skipper Joe Maddon has no issue with players charging the mound if it is warranted by a bean-ball from the opposing pitcher.

"I've always told my players, `You've got two options (after you get drilled): Go to first or go to the mound', Maddon said to reporters on Wednesday.

What if it meant one of the top players like Bryant or Rizzo would be suspended for a considerable amount of time?

"We were in a pretty good fight with Boston (with the 2008 Rays). We had guys suspended for a whole month. And we went to the World Series."
