Cubs News: Maddon ranked 8th most accomplished manager |
Baseball America released its latest article that
ranked the most accomplished major league managers and Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon was ranked #8.
The criteria of the rankings were based on seasons with at least 100 games managed, world series championships, pennants, division titles, playoff appearances, career wins and 100-win seasons. "Maddon reeled off an incredible six straight winning seasons with the resourceful Rays from 2008 to 2013, and he stands as the ultimate player’s manager, but he needs more tenure, more wins, and more pennants to advance his cause with the Hall monitor," Baseball American said. "Managing a loaded Cubs roster in 2016 is a great jumping off point for the second half of his career in the dugout." Madden's career statistics include one pennant, two division titles, five times making the playoffs, 878 wins and an average number of wins at 89 per season. The full Top 10 manager list includes Bruch Bochy, Dusty Baker, Mike Scioscia, Terry Francona, Buck Showalter, Ned Yost, Joe Girardi, Joe Maddon, Clint Hurdle, and Bob Melvin.
