Benches clear in Cubs-Braves game in 9th inning

by - Senior Editor -

After the Braves tied the game in the ninth with a home run, Cubs closer Hector Rondon came with an inside pitch to Jeff Francoeur. Words were exchanged between the Cubs catcher Willson Contreras and Francoeur, and the benches cleared. No punches were thrown, and there were no ejections. The Cubs appeared to be upset because the Braves hit Kris Bryant twice and Anthony Rizzo once earlier in the game.
