Could Cubs pull off blockbuster trade for HR champion?

The Toronto Blue Jays have been struggling during the early portion of the 2016 season as they have a mediocre record of 24-25 which currently puts them in third place in the American League East division.

ESPN's senior writer Jim Bowden believes that six-time All-Star and two-time major league home run champion Jose Bautista would be a great fit for the Chicago Cubs in a trade with the Blue Jays.

"He has 10 home runs and 34 RBIs and leads the league again this year with 38 walks," Bowden said. "He will be a difficult free agent to re-sign for the Jays, and like Encarnacion if they drop back, trading him and then trying to re-sign him is a better concept then taking a draft pick. His bat flip would certainly play well the rest of this year in left field for the Cubs."

"Best fit: Chicago Cubs, because he'll be a perfect two-month rental for them since Kyle Schwarber will be back next year."

In 2016, Bautista is currently batting .238 with 10 homers and 34 RBIs with a .379 on-base percentage. For his career, he is a .256 hitter with 296 home runs and 827 RBIs.
