The Cubs have designated veteran reliever Joel Peralta for assignment after calling up Adam Warren for a spot start on Wednesday. Peralta was 0-1 with 9.00 ERA with the Cubs. He was selected from Triple-A Iowa June 27 after signing a minor league contract on June 13 and allowed runs in three of his five appearances with the Cubs.

Chicago did not announce another move although they are activating Tommy La Stella from the DL. Catcher David Ross is being evaluated after taking a foul ball off the mask on Tuesday and could be heading to DL.
