Cubs News: Injury updates on Zobrist, Rizzo

Cubs second baseman Ben Zobrist got hit by a pitch on the back of his left foot by Mike Dunn in the seventh inning during Friday night's game against the Miami Marlins.

"I wasn't comfortable trying to run the bases," Zobrist said to reporters after the win. "That's why I came out of the game."

The X-rays on his foot were negative after the game and it is officially being called a contusion on the back of his left foot (ankle bruise).

Zobrist will more than likely be out for Saturday's game against the Marlins. For the season, he is batting .302 with nine homers, 41 RBIs, and an on-base percentage of .410.

Cubs slugger Anthony Rizzo has been out the last two games since he left Wednesday's game with lower back tightness.

"He was ready to hit tonight," manager Joe Maddon said. "As of right now, there is a solid chance he'll play tomorrow."

This is the second time this season that Rizzo has had issues with his back. In 2016, he is batting .277 with 17 homers, 54 RBIs, and an on-base percentage of .402.
