by - Senior Editor -

Center fielder Jon Jay signed with the Chicago Cubs to a one-year contract worth $8 million on Tuesday.

He is a career .287 hitter with 374 runs, 15 triples, 31 homers, 253 RBIs, and 45 stolen bases in his last seven MLB seasons.

"Thank you, everyone, for all the love! I am excited to join the @Cubs and be part of this special organization and group of guys," Jay tweeted on Tuesday night. #flytheW

The lefty will platoon with Albert Almora Jr. in center field to provide depth in the outfield. He is also a talented defensive player as he has a career .996 fielding position in center field, the highest mark of any active player at the position.
