Cubs News: Kyle Schwarber playing update |
Cubs young phenom Kyle Schwarber is one of the cornerstones of the Cubs nucleus of young stars for 2017 and beyond.
Schwarber will not play winter ball but continue to rehab this offseason according to multiple reports. Hoyer said during interviews that he has not discussed with Schwarber whether he will catch moving forward. The Cubs expect Schwarber to be full-go when Spring training starts in a few short months focusing on left field. Look for Schwarber to play left field for multiple seasons as a Cub with his insane power and not risking injury at catcher. In 2015, Schwarber hit .246 with 16 home runs, 43 RBIs with an outstanding .842 OPS in only 69 games (273 at-bats) in his rookie season.
