Cubs News: Montero activated from the 15-day DL

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today activated catcher Miguel Montero off of the 15-day disabled list. Outfielder Ryan Kalish has been designated for assignment.

Montero, 32, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 28 with lower back tightness. He is batting .208 (10-for-48) with three doubles, one home run and six RBI in 13 games for the Cubs this season. Montero played three games in a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa, going 2-for-10 with two RBI.

Kalish, 28, batted .286 (2-for-7) with a run scored and two RBI in seven games with the Cubs this season. He batted .368 (21-for-57) with four doubles and two triples in 20 games with Iowa.
