Report: Cubs to call up Almora if Soler on DL |
The Chicago Cubs will be calling up Albert Almora Jr. on Tuesday if outfielder Jorge Soler lands on the disabled list with his hamstring injury according to multiple reports.
Almora is batting .318 with three homers, 33 runs, 68 hits, 30 RBIs, seven walks, .779 OPS and ten stolen bases for Triple-A Iowa this season. He is also a very talented defensive outfielder. In five minor-league seasons, he has hit .292 with 23 home runs and 178 RBI. The Cubs selected Almora in the first round, with the sixth overall selection, in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft. Albert Almora Jr. will not be with the Iowa #Cubs today. No word on if he's officially been called up of is on standby to wait on Soler.
Basically: if Soler goes on the DL, Almora Jr. will be there and ready. If he doesn't, Almora Jr., will head back to Iowa. #MiLB #Cubs
