Cubs News: Ross updates health status of Jason Heyward

Chicago Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward left Sunday's game versus the St. Louis Cardinals because he was feeling under the weather with a shortness of breath and light-headed.

Later that night, he was eventually taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Cubs manager David Ross spoke to the media before Tuesday's game and shared that Heyward is still dealing with some fatigue issues.

"Finishing up some tests, passed all the tests this morning," Ross said. "It seems to come back clear. Going through another one (test). It should be the last one to get cleared. I talked to him a little bit this morning. He is still feeling a little bit fatigued so I'm going to stay away from him to start the game for sure."

Heyward is currently labeled day-to-day with his illness.

"I don’t think the doctors exactly know what it is," he said. "They’re trying to rule all those things out right now with all the tests."

Ross had said that the team had no COVID-19 positives on Monday.

Heyward has had an impressive season batting .300 with five homers, 17 RBI, and an .955 OPS. In the last 12 games, he has hit .400 with three homers and five RBI.

Newcomer Cameron Maybin is getting another start in right field in J-Hey's absence.
