WATCH: Fowler discusses his ejection vs. Nationals

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs center fielder Dexter Fowler was ejected on Thursday after having a conversation about his strikeout with the head umpire Vic Carapazza at the end of the third inning.

"I figure I got two more at-bats; I wanted to know the strike zone," Fowler said. "Are you gonna call them up? Are you gonna call them away? Whatever. Just let me know. That's all."

The umpire did not enjoy the line of questioning and threw him out of the game. It was the first ejection of Fowler's baseball career.

Fowler was leading the major leagues with a .542 on-base percentage at the start of Thursday's contest.

Jason Heyward entered the game to replace Fowler in center field.
