Cubs John Lester said the following to reporters after the 7-6 win over the Mariners.

"I was surprised I was swinging. I thought I was up there to bunt. [He] put it on then took it off then put it back on."

"I blacked out," Lester said. "I wasn't thinking at all. There was no thinking for me. I was trying to pay attention and not miss any signs. I was just trying not to screw anything up."
