WATCH: Rizzo discusses his injury to his back

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs slugger Anthony Rizzo exited late in Wednesday's game because of stiffness in his back.

"If it wasn't 7-0 there I stay in the game, but just be cautious about it," Rizzo told reporters after the game.

"They came in and just beat us. To get back into a race, you have to beat the teams ahead of you, and that’s what they did. We’re in a good position leaving here, but getting swept at home from a division rival is not ideal."

Maddon said after the game that he is currently day-to-day and might sit on Thursday against a lefty.

In 2016, Rizzo is batting .277 with 17 home runs, 54 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .402.
