The Miami Marlins have claimed Chicago Cubs minor league left-handed pitcher Eric Jokisch off of waivers on Thursday.

Jokisch was immediately sent to Triple-A New Orleans by the Marlins but will probably be promoted to the majors eventually as the team currently has only two healthy left-handed options available in Chris Narveson and Craig Breslow.

He was the Cubs' 11th round pick in 2010 and pitched shortly for the Cubs in 2014 for 14 1/3 innings with a 1.88 ERA.

The Cubs 40-man roster is now at 39 players.
