CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today activated right-handed pitcher Pedro Strop off of the 10-day injured list. To make room for Strop on the roster, right-handed pitcher Dillon Maples was optioned to Triple-A Iowa following yesterday’s game. Strop will be available for the Cubs tonight when they begin their three-game series against the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field.

Strop, 33, was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 8 with a left hamstring strain and made three rehab appearances with Iowa as part of his return, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (3.0 IP) while allowing only one hit and one walk with a pair of strikeouts. He last pitched on Sunday in Round Rock, earning the win following a scoreless frame. With the Cubs this season, Strop has gone 1-2 with four saves and a 5.06 ERA (6 ER/10.2 IP) in 12 relief outings.

Maples, 27, is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA (5.2 IP) in seven relief appearances with the Cubs this season. With Iowa, he has gone 0-2 with one save and a 4.61 ERA (7 ER/13.2 IP) in 12 relief outings this year.
