Beth Murphy, the beloved owner of Murphy's Bleachers in Wrigleyville, has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and love for the Chicago Cubs and her community.

The news of her passing was announced on the bar's Twitter account on Monday.

"It is with great sadness we announce that our owner and the heart of Murphy’s Bleachers, Beth Murphy, peacefully passed away early this morning," they posted. "The Murphy family and all of us here would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time. May She Rest In Peace."

Murphy's Bleachers, located across the street from Wrigley Field, has been a staple in the community for decades, catering to Cubs fans with pre and post-game drinks, food, and camaraderie.

Beth Murphy took over the helm of the bar after her husband, Jim Murphy, passed away in 2003.

She quickly became known as the heart of Murphy's Bleachers and worked tirelessly to maintain its history and connection to the community.

The news of her passing has left a deep impact on the community, with many taking to social media to share their condolences and express their gratitude for all that she did for Wrigleyville.

The marquee at Wrigley Field displayed "Beth Murphy 1955-2023" in honor of her memory, and Murphy's Bleachers itself posted a sign outside the bar with the message "We Will Miss You Beth."

The Cubs released the following statement after hearing of her passing:

"Our thoughts are with Beth Murphy's family, friends, loved ones and patrons of the iconic neighborhood institution," they tweeted.

The Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce, which represents the neighborhood where Murphy's Bleachers is located, shared a message on Facebook honoring her contributions to the community.

"Beth truly loved all things Wrigleyville, and fought hard to preserve the history of our neighborhood over the years," they wrote. "The neighborhood will forever be changed because of Beth, and we wish her family and loved ones peace during this time."

Beth Murphy's passing is a reminder of the impact that one person can have on a community, and how much love and dedication can be poured into a business.

Her legacy will continue to live on through Murphy's Bleachers and the countless memories made there by Cubs fans and visitors alike.
