Cubs plummet in ESPN's latest MLB Power Rankings

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs have stumbled to a 2-7 start to begin the 2019 season after losing the first three series respectively to the Rangers, Braves, and Brewers.

ESPN released their latest MLB power rankings on Monday as the Cubs fell 13 spots from No. 6 preseason to No. 19 overall.

"We recently found out that Joe Maddon's forthcoming restaurant near Wrigley Field will feature renowned Chicago chef Tony Mantuano," ESPN.com said. "That's about the best development of the Cubs' spring. The worst? The team that bad-mouthed PECOTA has since gone about proving it to be the most clairvoyant prognosticator since Edgar Cayce."

The MLB Top five ahead of the Cubs included the Dodgers (1), Phillies (2), Brewers (3), Mets (4), and Rays (5).

The National League Central division should be one of the best all season with the Brewers (3), Cardinals (14), Pirates (18), Cubs (19), and Reds (27).
