WATCH: Maddon gets his 1st ejection of the year

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs skipper Joe Maddon was ejected from Sunday afternoon's game by umpire Tripp Gibson in the seventh inning for arguing a check-swing call on Paul Goldschmidt. It appeared in replays that Goldschmidt had swung at the changeup in the dirt by reliever Trevor Cahill.

It was Maddon's first ejection on the 2016 baseball season.

"I really thought he swung," Maddon said to reporters after the game. "I didn't think there was any question about it."
