The Chicago Cubs have placed reliever Kyle Ryan on the COVID-19 list.

This will delay his start to spring training.

In 2020, he had a 5.17 ERA with 1.40 WHIP in 18 appearances. He was impressive in 2019 with a 3.54 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 73 appearances.

“There’s going to be a lot of delays with these protocols,” Jed Hoyer said during his press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

In other Cubs reliever news, Rowan Wick is still dealing with an intercostal issue and will not be ready to go for the start of training camp.

“He’ll probably be a little slower than some guys,” Hoyer said.

Both relievers are expected to be solid contributors for the Cubs bullpen in 2021.
