Cubs reportedly 'pushing hard' to sign Craig Kimbrel

by - Senior Editor -

The Cubs' bullpen has been without an established closer for the 2019 season.

However, things could get exciting for Cubs fans as MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Cubs are 'pushing hard' for Craig Kimbrel and apparently a finalist for his services.

Kimbrel's signing is no longer attached to any draft picks so several teams are now interested in signing the former All-Star closer.

For his career, Kimbrell has a sparkling 1.91 ERA with 333 saves, 868 strikeouts, and a 0.92 WHIP.

Pedro Strop said on Tuesday that the Cubs players wouldn't mind having Kimbrel as a teammate.

"It’s not a secret how good he is," he said. "If he’s not the best, he’s one of the best in that role. Man, we’d be glad to have him here."

Stay tuned to CubsHQ as the Cubs are in the hunt for some bullpen help.
