Cubs News: Maddon reacts to latest loss: "It's frustrating for everybody"

by - Senior Editor -

The Cubs are off to a rocky 1-4 start to begin the 2019 season in which they have blown several leads by a faulty bullpen.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon spoke to the media Wednesday night after another bullpen implosion in the 6-4 defeat to the Braves.

"The games that we have lost, we have had one bad moment out of the bullpen by someone like Montgomery. Tonight it was Cishek. Somebody else that other game. It's like one bad moment. Obviously, it's a bad moment and comes at a bad time."

Maddon knows that his team needs to finish the job and get the wins when they have the late leads.

"Otherwise, we played well again. It's a game we should have won. I've said that way too many times. We've got to put those games in the win column. It's frustrating for everybody. The ducks were in a row, and it didn't play out. We’re beating ourselves pretty much at the end. We’re used to winning those kinds of games. I have a ton of faith in all (the relievers). It was precipitated by a guy that’s normally lights out.”
