CHICAGO — Finishing off a 4-game series in riveting fashion, the Chicago Cubs (42-35) knocked off the New York Mets (37-41) 5-3 at Wrigley Field on Sunday, with a go-ahead 3-run home run by Javier Baez winning it for the Cubs. As a result of the victory, the Cubs earned a series split with the Mets, who blew a 3-1 lead by getting outscored 4-0 following the top of the fifth.

Baez's game-winning blast marked the 100th home run of his career, putting him alongside Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo in the select group of active Cubs to tab 100 career dingers before turning 27. The 3-run long ball put Chicago up 5-3 in the eighth, and Cubs closer Pedro Strop took care of business in the top of the ninth, thereby securing the win.
