The Chicago Bears selected safety Jaquan Brisker with the No. 48 pick in the 2022 NFL draft on Friday night.

He is a versatile safety that should fit well with the Bears' defense as Eddie Jackson is on the latter stages of his NFL career.

In 2021, he had 33 tackles, one fumble recovery, and two interceptions. He was voted as a second-team AP All-American team after the season.

Most experts had him as the draft's second or third best safety. He earned an 89.5 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus last season.

Brisker was the highest safety that the Bears have drafted since Danieal Manning at No. 42 overall in 2006.

Previously, with pick No. 39, the Bears picked Washington cornerback Kyler Gordon.

The Bears have upgraded their defense significantly with their two picks in the second round tonight.
