LOS ANGELES – The Chicago Cubs today placed right-handed pitcher Kyle Hendricks on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation and recalled right-handed pitcher Rowan Wick from Triple-A Iowa. Wick will be available for the Cubs tonight when they continue their four-game series at the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Wick, 26, joins the Cubs for the second time this season, as he pitched one inning of relief on May 23 vs. Philadelphia during his previous stint from May 22-23. He has posted no record with three saves and a 2.30 ERA (7 ER/27.1 IP) in 19 relief outings with Iowa this year, striking out 33 batters and walking only eight in 27.1 innings while limiting foes to a .214 batting average against and posting a 1.10 WHIP. Wick joins the Cubs having posted a 1.08 ERA (1 ER/8.1 IP) in his last six outings, including scoreless ball in each of his last five appearances (5.0 IP).

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Wick made his major league debut with the San Diego Padres last year and went 0-1 with a 6.48 ERA (6 ER/8.1 IP) in 10 relief appearances. With Triple-A El Paso last season, he went 2-0 with nine saves and a 1.99 ERA (5 ER/22.2 IP) in 20 relief outings. Wick was acquired by the Cubs from San Diego on November 20, 2018 for infielder Jason Vosler.

A native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Wick was originally selected by St. Louis in the ninth round of the 2012 Draft out of Cypress Community College. He was a catcher/outfielder for his first four pro seasons before converting to a pitcher during the 2015 campaign. Overall, he is 8-6 with 29 saves and a 2.75 ERA (52 ER/170.0 IP) in 149 minor league relief appearances covering the last five seasons.

Hendricks, 29, is 7-5 with a 3.36 ERA (33 ER/88.1 IP) in 14 starts for the Cubs this season.
