David Bote was hit in the head by a 0-2 pitch by Madison Bumgarner in the first inning of Sunday's win against the Giants.
Cubs manager Joe Maddon said on Monday that Bote had not seen the doctor yet and still under evaluation as a precaution. "He’s doing OK," he said. "Still got to get together with Doc Adams, but he appears to be trending in the right direction. Nothing seems to be awful. But we still have to see the doctor first today and figure out the next step." Sadly this was Bote's first spring at-bat of the season and not a fun way to start the year for the talented youngster. Monday afternoon update: Cubs announce that Bote can resume baseball activities on Tuesday and might even get into game action on Wednesday. David Bote doing better. Chance he plays Wednesday Bote (beaned Sunday) is back to regular practice work today, and if all goes well, says Maddon, he might play in Wednesday's game. Maddon on Bote: "He came in my office chirping. He looked very good."
