Javy Baez discusses Cubs replacing Joe Maddon

by - Senior Editor -

It's a new era for Chicago Cubs baseball as Grandpa Rossy is the new manager for 2020.

Cubs shortstop Javy Baez spoke to the media Sunday morning as he talked about several topics including replacing an all-time manager type in Joe Maddon for rookie manager David Ross.

“Joe [Maddon] was great for us," Baez said via The Athletic's Patrick Mooney. "He brought the World Series to us. You got to see the business side. I don’t know what happened. But obviously Joe was great for me, for the organization, for the city, for everybody. We thank him a lot."

During his time with the Cubs, Maddon helped break the 108-year title curse on the North Side including having the highest winning percentage (.581) by a manager since Frank Chase and accomplished a team-record 19 playoff victories.

It will be a tough act to follow but Ross hopefully has what it takes to be successful on the North Side for years to come.
