CHICAGO — Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was a late scratch from the starting lineup on Saturday. Bryant has battled minor back and elbow injuries recently, but he was removed from Saturday's lineup because of gastrointestinal issues.

Bryant was scratched mere minutes before the first pitch of the Cubs' game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field on Saturday evening. David Bote replaced Bryant at third base, and Ian Happ moved into the leadoff spot of the batting order.
