Cubs News: Kris Bryant updates his injury status

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant has been scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers because of "left ring finger and left wrist soreness" due to Wednesday's sliding catch in the outfield in the fifth inning.

Bryant told the media in pre-game that the wrist injury is not too bad.

"I'm okay, I'm fine," he said. "It doesn't feel great, but that's what happens when you dive in the outfield. A lot of the times, you're rolling your wrists all over, and me not playing out there too often, I just try to make the most of it."

David Ross said today that they are just using an "abundance of caution" with Bryant's wrist issue.

"Just to make sure K.B.'s hand was all right and wrist and everything was good.”

This is as good of a time to give him a break as any as the Cubs are rolling with a 12-3 record and back home at Wrigley Field for a while.

Bryant is hitting .196 with two homers and a .706 OPS in 12 games.
